One Word
One single word... has the ability to either anchor and ground me, or derail me.
Either it fertilizes and seeds my new shoots, or it touches down like a tornado and rips me out from the core. Roots dangling, flapping in the wind. Tossed to Timbuktu.
Which word I choose to give passage, depends on who is in the lead that day. Whether it’s the wide-eyed, curious little girl that lives within my heart’s wise center. Or the guarded, staunch soldier that lives within the fears that circulate my head.
Heart or head. It’s tricky.
The key is finding balance and harmony between the two. For them both to find even ground and sit together... to simply enjoy each other’s company, lay back in the grass, stare up at the sky, and count clouds. Together. Allowing, accepting, and embracing all that is life. All that is out of our control, unavoidable, yet fascinating.
The trick is to lead with curiosity over resistance.
To lean into feelings and experience them. Soak them up like a sponge and let them filter through, like a river trickling over rocks... soothing and smoothing sharp corners, washing out the debris, the internal fears, and negativity. Releasing. Letting them drift down stream.
The wise little girl and the soldier. It’s truly a conundrum.
Can they meet in the middle and find peace? Can the never ending battles, cease?
One word, is all it takes.
